"The driver picked his nose for 20 minutes on the outbound trip. On the return trip the driver wanted to negotiate an earlier pick up time due to him fasting. This was not possible as passenger was in meetings. The return journey the driver kept passing wind and therefore passenger opened the window and driver closed it as said it was too windy, I think he was the one with wind! Not impressive when I have sourced your company for my boss."

" I had an excellent experience with my trip to the airport from Pimlico. I adjusted the pickup time forward, and the driver / Phoenix adapted to it right away and made an earlier pickup. The driver was very courteous and competent and did a great job in London traffic to make his way to the airport. Overall the experience was excellent. Note that I gave the driver a cash tip upon arrival at the airport. Note that I am a US (not UK) resident, but I checked the charity box in case it helps."

Our postcode is on both sides of the road and so he went to the wrong side, despite being given the what3words location which was a pity. The big issue was that the car had something in the back/open boot that rattled most of the journey which did rather drive us all mad. I didn't feel that it was an executive car for which we had paid extra. However seats were comfortable."

"Got a phone call 7 am Sunday morning asking for 40£ extra or else they would cancel the trip. As we were put on the spot having to reach an airplane a few hours later we had no other choice than to accept. Borderline fraud. The driver was a nice guy though."

"I requested a car to arrive for 4pm, TaxiCode rung me around 5-10mins later to ask if I would accept 4.30pm, to which I replied I would. another 5-10mins after this I received another call from TaxiCode asking would I consider a car for 4.45pm, to which I replied 'no, this is unfortunately too late and I have another company I can go with instead.' I requested a refund twice during this call, but the operator insisted my car would arrive by 4.30pm (I was told they had checked with their manager & available taxi services), but they needed to update the system to show 4.45pm, just in case. I was then assigned a driver & over the next hour told every 20-30mins that my cab was delayed due to heavy traffic. I called taxi code again, asked for a refund and to cancel the cab as the new arrival time was after 5pm (an hour past my original requested time). The operator (Abdullah) was now hugely unhelpful, couldn't direct me to the manager or offer a refund even though I was getting direct updated from the cab company to tell me they were hugely delayed. He said he would ring the company to check the new ETA and get back to me with an update, which he never did. I finally got a call at 5.51pm (1.45+hours after my original time) to let me know the driver had arrived. The passengers I was arranging the journey for had an important event to get to and would've missed it if they'd waited around for this cab. I was also being told that there were road closures on the M25 due to an accident that had happened at 8.50am in the morning (this was past 4pm). I searched online traffic updates and saw this road had been reopened earlier in the day and average traffic wait times were no more than 10-15mins. I would like to get a refund for this journey as I was promised the cab would arrive by 4.45pm. I appreciate there are issues on the day (such as accidents etc), but then the cab company needs to take responsibility for delays and either provide a cab that is closer or offer a refund when they're unable to meet the requested time slot."

Our day ended up 14 hours of traveling and stress, 2 pensioners 71 and 72 years of age, a 3-year-old child and mother, 9- and 12-year-old boys. We ordered a booster seat that was not supplied. The driver spent most of his time on the phone and we will be suing for damages. "

When I phoned they said he was stuck in traffic and would be another 15 minutes. At 16:45, I phoned again as he was still not there. The office told me 5-7 minutes and put me in touch with the driver, who sent me his location. I could see on google Maps he was still 15 minutes away. When he finally arrived 15 17:05 he told me it took him 2 hours to get from Putney to Bank, which is no surprise on a weekday. They would have been able to see online how long their journey would take them, but they accepted the job anyway. I was 1 hour late to a work obligation. I would like a refund for this journey."

I was then called on my way to the airport stating that I had too much luggage and I would need to upgrade my car to accommodate at a cost of 50 pounds. I explained that i had 2 x conversations and an email thread regarding this subject but at that point I was close to take off and it was too late to make alternate arrangements. The Taxi driver was nice and professional however a little late (15 min). I would still like to leave a tip for him but will wait until a receive a response to this message. "Two cars were dispatched for my booking- which created a lot of confusion and unnecessary phone calls with the office. I first received a call from Phoenix cars - driver name ?Laveed (Reg ending with Y18AWM) more than an hour before the booking time to meet. He did not park to meet and greet, just circling around the terminal to avoid paying for parking presumably. No text details of the car or driver received. He just verbally gave me his car reg on the phone and told us to wait outside until he came back. it was difficult to communicate with intermittent phone signals, and he asked for the colour of our clothes for recognition. His manners appeared quite rude. His driving was quite unsteady and and distracted, often not keeping straight in a lane in the motorway. On arrival he wanted to use our toilet for religious purposes “as he was fasting” and proceeded to use a pair of our slippers at home! We were less than impressed with the service provided."

"have paid for a bigger car, but the company Taxicode has appointed to fulfill the request has sent a smaller car. As it was too late (10.30pm), we had no option but to accept it. I flagged this to Taxicode, but they have not been able to sort out the issue so far (approx. 4 weeks after flagging it). I do not recommend using Taxicode, as my experience was a poor one - I have paid more for a poorer service, while in my booking I have paid extra for the comfort, but the requirements were ignored, and my extra money never returned. Disappointing."

Was unable to recieve e mails but when we did later, found an e mail cancelling our booking sent 15 minutes before the pick up time. Had to walk 1.5 miles to nearest train station only to find trains were not running. Reason for booking taxi was I have just had a knee operation. Then waited another hour and a half for a family member to drive the 45 miles to pick us up. To add one final insult, a £5 voucher was offered in compensation to be used against our next booking."

However, the driver assigned (if indeed he was) did not show up to collect us for the return journey leaving us stranded in Twickenham in the very cold weather. "The whole experience was dreadful- the driver was 20 mins late, the child car seats requested were not provided, the one provided was not safely attached and the driver was unaware of how to install it. The other child seat was a booster seat for 4years plus and therefore inherently dangerous for our 2 year old. The drivers solution was that he would drive carefully- heaven knows how he drives normally. We had to take the taxi as he left us no time to make other arrangements. I am DISGUSTED by the service and will never use you again. I was contacted to ask why I had called and informed your customer service person of all these issues and that I wanted a complete refund. He simply told me to email what had happened even though I had just gone through it all. I have done this and received no further contact."

"To ensure a great travel experience, we chose to pay extra, and book the “Best Luxury”-package, with free wi-fi, water and a high-end vehicle suitable for 8 persons. The car was +30 min. late in airport. The driver had to check the waterlevel on car before driving. Apparently, we had to take the slow road due to traffic, resulting in a +2 hour drive. The driver was reluctant to stop for a short toilet break until he himself had to go. He also used the break to check the waterlevel on the car again. On the way to the hotel, the driver suggests that we amend the return journey, from 2 pm to 1 pm to avoid any problems with traffic. He calls the Head Office to let them know, that we are interested in amending the booking. We are informed that the Head Office will call us the following day in order to confirm - directly with us, that we have an interest in amending the return booking. The Head Office never called us, and did not pick up when we tried calling them. Sunday morning we called the Head Office to confirm that we wanted to change the pick-up time. They informed us, that they can make the change, but cannot guarantee the driver to be there exactly at 1pm, since he has to drop off another customer and might be delayed by traffic. They suggest he might be up to 15-20 minutes late, and we agree that it is acceptable. The driver who picked us up Friday from the airport calls us shortly after to tell us, that traffic is normal, so the original pick-up time at 2 pm will be ok for us to make it on time. We inform him, that we have arranged a change in pick up time with the Head Office, and would like to stick to the new time slot. He further informs us that he has not been assigned to that particular pick up, and thus will speak to the Head Office. As the time slot HAS indeed now been confirmed with the Head Office we believe that all is in order for a pick up at 1pm (with a max of a possible 20 mins delay). To ensure all is in order, we are ready outside the hotel at 12:50noon waiting for the pick-up. We regret to inform you that at 1:20pm a car has not yet arrived, why we try to call the Head Office to ask how soon the car will arrive at the hotel. Unfortunately, no one ever picks up the phone. We try to call Phoenix Cars non-stop for 30 minutes using different phone lines + leaving several voice messages urging to call us back. We then call Taxicode who tells us to keep calling – they will try as well. Still with no luck. In order to get in touch with ANYONE – we, at 1:40 pm call the driver (taking us from the airport on Friday 14 Jan). He informs us that he has to drop off another client and can pick us up at 2:20 pm. At 2:30 pm, we call him again asking how far out he is, he replies that expects to arrive in no more than 5 minutes. The car finally shows up at 2:45 pm. Almost 2 hours later than expected AND now 45 minutes later than what was originally booked! The driver insures us, that there will be no problem arriving at the airport on time – even though we inform him, that our flight departs at 5:10 pm, we have to drop-off large suitcases and that we are traveling with children. As arrival time in Copenhagen was set for 8pm-ish, it was imperative that we had time to have – well at least the children – dinner at the airport. Before departing from the hotel once again we notice that the driver has to fill water on the car and he informs us, that the engine has a problem with overheating. Due to this issue we can at no point exceed more than 45 mph resulting in, the M25 is off limits. We therefor had to take the slower route through the city to Gatwick – still not going faster than 45 mph. This resulting in a trip being further 20 mins delayed than if the car had been operational. We suspect this to be the reason for him taking the slow route from the airport to the city at our arrival trip. We finally arrive at the airport at 4:20 pm, leaving us less than 50 minutes to leave our luggage (luggage drop closes at 4.30), get through security, go to the gate and board the plane. That timeframe left no room for food at all! Not to mention we had to run ask for permission to skip queues several times. To sum up we ended up waiting for the car for more than 2h 15 min. (1h 15m if we only look at the original booking). The Head Office was almost unreachable. The car was in bad shape. It resulted in a stressful and unpleasant experience traveling with Phoenix Cars. Since we definitely did not get a VIP vehicle or service, I expect to get the difference of £40 between the “cheapest price” and the “Best Luxury” package refunded – at least!"

This was clearly nonsense as the driver phoned about 20 minutes later to say he was 28 minutes away. This was part of a pattern of poor communication with phones going unanswered, no response to voice messages, and the ridiculous charge of £10 to amend a pick up time. A promised confirmatory email from the taxi firm (Phoenix taxis) and when I phoned to ensure all was in order, when I eventually got a response on the third phone number I found the response didn’t give me much faith in what would happen and that proved correct. "Hello, I had a Taxi booked in for 8:30am today. I received a call at 8:20am from the office, stating that the driver has been changed and that the new driver is going to be 10/15 minutes late. It’s 10:06am right now and we are still waiting for the driver to show up. I can understand that sometime things happen and it can cause delays. However we have been waiting for over 1 h 30 minutes outside in the rain. This is a formal complaint to you regarding our issue because I believe I have the right to complain about this as I paid for a service which is not being delivered in a timely manner. The return journey is where things began to go awry. Due to an event running late we asked our driver directly if he would mind coming a little later to pick us up, which was no problem. We agreed a new time, and a small amount of compensation for his patience. 45 minutes after he was due to arrive, Phoenix Cars finally called me and were refusing to let him come to pick us up unless we paid £100. They also refused to send another driver. 3am, and stuck in south London, 85 miles from home, even though we had prepaid £200+ for the trip. Thankfully, after calling the driver personally, he agreed to come and pick us up regardless, and we eventually got home. Not a peep further from Phoenix Cars after all this. And they were certainly rude and aggressive on the phone when I did managed to speak with them. Wonderful, helpful, polite driver, and a very safe and comfortable trip. But as a company, terrible."

I called that phone number for at least five times I’ve left numerous messages to call me back. The driver never even acknowledge my phone calls. Even the customer service person tried to call him a few times and he told me that he cannot reach the driver. You know that we have an Air plane to catch to be on time all 8 eight of our passengers are very very uncomfortable, Unhappy and you left a very bad taste in their mouths. We have to finally took an expensive taxi ride directly to the airport. I will give you three days to do good for us on this trip to redeem for this very unhappy and unsatisfactory experience with your company. "We couldn't find a taxi driver. He said he was there and he wasn't there when we got there. There are many places to stop at Stansted Airport. Despite the fact that everything is marked in color, so according to the description of the place where it stands, was very unhappy. The daughter telephoned with him and finally agreed on the spot. Our passenger has since told us that the driver was watching a movie on his phone whilst driving him along major roads and was not very polite at all. Additional charges were then waived as we were within our 30 minute wait time. Overall the company and the driver were rude. The car was very dusty with mud and marks all over the seats. Not what you expect for over £260 and an “executive car”. I was also surprised at the route taken by the driver and had he asked if I would pay for the Toll Road I would have said yes to save us well over an hour. I wouldn’t be using this company again. I would rather have just got an Uber "

The vehicle I booked is not what we received, but who doesn't want to swap an E-Class for a custom transit mini bus anyway? Once we were moving however the journey was simply the worst I have experienced. Alarm bells were initially set off when driving out of my parents village along a narrow road the driver decided to force two other cards to drive around him to turn right behind us rather than just wait a few metres further back and allow them to pass. Once the ensuing battle of wills had been won, somewhat unceremoniously, by our driver who mounted the curb, we set on our way towards the M20 and Heathrow. While I appreciate roundabouts can be confusing places, we were joining at the end of the M20 motorway, so there was literally only one way to go to get onto the motorway and towards the airport. Sadly our driver chose the other way and we were promptly heading back the way we came. This small oversight remedied we then embarked along the motorway. There are a number of roadworks on the motorway, making the lanes narrower which requires additional concentration, but nothing that can't be handled by a professional driver. Sadly we didn't have one of those and on more than one occasion we drifted dangerously close to the lorries using the lane alongside us. Of course this is an understandable element of any journey during which the driver appears to be drifting off to sleep. The really scary moment of the journey though was the borderline comedic journey along the M25. Once the inevitable roadworks had ended the driver decided that the middle lane was the appropriate place to travel at 40mph for about 5-10 miles. With cars overtaking, overtaking, swerving to avoid us and beeping their horns as they passed the driver decided to inform us that the speed limit was 40mph here and literally every other driver on the road was mistaken. After I pointed out that it clearly wasn't that speed he was silent for about 2 minutes and then sped up to over 80mph and promptly chased down the vehicles that had been so angry with us not 5 minutes earlier. Upon arrival at the airport my girlfriend and I disembarked gingerly, ready for a relatively easy flight thinking only that it couldn't get any worse. "

"I requested a car to arrive for 4pm, TaxiCode rung me around 5-10mins later to ask if I would accept 4.30pm, to which I replied I would. another 5-10mins after this I received another call from TaxiCode asking would I consider a car for 4.45pm, to which I replied 'no, this is unfortunately too late and I have another company I can go with instead.' I requested a refund twice during this call, but the operator insisted my car would arrive by 4.30pm (I was told they had checked with their manager & available taxi services), but they needed to update the system to show 4.45pm, just in case. I was then assigned a driver & over the next hour told every 20-30mins that my cab was delayed due to heavy traffic. I called taxi code again, asked for a refund and to cancel the cab as the new arrival time was after 5pm (an hour past my original requested time). The operator (Abdullah) was now hugely unhelpful, couldn't direct me to the manager or offer a refund even though I was getting direct updated from the cab company to tell me they were hugely delayed. He said he would ring the company to check the new ETA and get back to me with an update, which he never did. I finally got a call at 5.51pm (1.45+hours after my original time) to let me know the driver had arrived. The passengers I was arranging the journey for had an important event to get to and would've missed it if they'd waited around for this cab. I was also being told that there were road closures on the M25 due to an accident that had happened at 8.50am in the morning (this was past 4pm). I searched online traffic updates and saw this road had been reopened earlier in the day and average traffic wait times were no more than 10-15mins. I would like to get a refund for this journey as I was promised the cab would arrive by 4.45pm. I appreciate there are issues on the day (such as accidents etc), but then the cab company needs to take responsibility for delays and either provide a cab that is closer or offer a refund when they're unable to meet the requested time slot."

He just verbally gave me his car reg on the phone and told us to wait outside until he came back. it was difficult to communicate with intermittent phone signals, and he asked for the colour of our clothes for recognition. His manners appeared quite rude. His driving was quite unsteady and and distracted, often not keeping straight in a lane in the motorway. On arrival he wanted to use our toilet for religious purposes “as he was fasting” and proceeded to use a pair of our slippers at home! We were less than impressed with the service provided."

"To ensure a great travel experience, we chose to pay extra, and book the “Best Luxury”-package, with free wi-fi, water and a high-end vehicle suitable for 8 persons. The car was +30 min. late in airport. The driver had to check the waterlevel on car before driving. Apparently, we had to take the slow road due to traffic, resulting in a +2 hour drive. The driver was reluctant to stop for a short toilet break until he himself had to go. He also used the break to check the waterlevel on the car again. On the way to the hotel, the driver suggests that we amend the return journey, from 2 pm to 1 pm to avoid any problems with traffic. He calls the Head Office to let them know, that we are interested in amending the booking. We are informed that the Head Office will call us the following day in order to confirm - directly with us, that we have an interest in amending the return booking. The Head Office never called us, and did not pick up when we tried calling them. Sunday morning we called the Head Office to confirm that we wanted to change the pick-up time. They informed us, that they can make the change, but cannot guarantee the driver to be there exactly at 1pm, since he has to drop off another customer and might be delayed by traffic. They suggest he might be up to 15-20 minutes late, and we agree that it is acceptable. The driver who picked us up Friday from the airport calls us shortly after to tell us, that traffic is normal, so the original pick-up time at 2 pm will be ok for us to make it on time. We inform him, that we have arranged a change in pick up time with the Head Office, and would like to stick to the new time slot. He further informs us that he has not been assigned to that particular pick up, and thus will speak to the Head Office. As the time slot HAS indeed now been confirmed with the Head Office we believe that all is in order for a pick up at 1pm (with a max of a possible 20 mins delay). To ensure all is in order, we are ready outside the hotel at 12:50noon waiting for the pick-up. We regret to inform you that at 1:20pm a car has not yet arrived, why we try to call the Head Office to ask how soon the car will arrive at the hotel. Unfortunately, no one ever picks up the phone. We try to call Phoenix Cars non-stop for 30 minutes using different phone lines + leaving several voice messages urging to call us back. We then call Taxicode who tells us to keep calling – they will try as well. Still with no luck. In order to get in touch with ANYONE – we, at 1:40 pm call the driver (taking us from the airport on Friday 14 Jan). He informs us that he has to drop off another client and can pick us up at 2:20 pm. At 2:30 pm, we call him again asking how far out he is, he replies that expects to arrive in no more than 5 minutes. The car finally shows up at 2:45 pm. Almost 2 hours later than expected AND now 45 minutes later than what was originally booked! The driver insures us, that there will be no problem arriving at the airport on time – even though we inform him, that our flight departs at 5:10 pm, we have to drop-off large suitcases and that we are traveling with children. As arrival time in Copenhagen was set for 8pm-ish, it was imperative that we had time to have – well at least the children – dinner at the airport. Before departing from the hotel once again we notice that the driver has to fill water on the car and he informs us, that the engine has a problem with overheating. Due to this issue we can at no point exceed more than 45 mph resulting in, the M25 is off limits. We therefor had to take the slower route through the city to Gatwick – still not going faster than 45 mph. This resulting in a trip being further 20 mins delayed than if the car had been operational. We suspect this to be the reason for him taking the slow route from the airport to the city at our arrival trip. We finally arrive at the airport at 4:20 pm, leaving us less than 50 minutes to leave our luggage (luggage drop closes at 4.30), get through security, go to the gate and board the plane. That timeframe left no room for food at all! Not to mention we had to run ask for permission to skip queues several times. To sum up we ended up waiting for the car for more than 2h 15 min. (1h 15m if we only look at the original booking). The Head Office was almost unreachable. The car was in bad shape. It resulted in a stressful and unpleasant experience traveling with Phoenix Cars. Since we definitely did not get a VIP vehicle or service, I expect to get the difference of £40 between the “cheapest price” and the “Best Luxury” package refunded – at least!"

"I had a phone call 10 minutes before the taxi was due to say the original vehicle had brake problems but a replacement had been organised and would be about 15-20 minutes late. This was clearly nonsense as the driver phoned about 20 minutes later to say he was 28 minutes away. This was part of a pattern of poor communication with phones going unanswered, no response to voice messages, and the ridiculous charge of £10 to amend a pick up time. A promised confirmatory email from the taxi firm (Phoenix taxis) and when I phoned to ensure all was in order, when I eventually got a response on the third phone number I found the response didn’t give me much faith in what would happen and that proved correct. "Hello, I had a Taxi booked in for 8:30am today. I received a call at 8:20am from the office, stating that the driver has been changed and that the new driver is going to be 10/15 minutes late. It’s 10:06am right now and we are still waiting for the driver to show up. I can understand that sometime things happen and it can cause delays. However we have been waiting for over 1 h 30 minutes outside in the rain. This is a formal complaint to you regarding our issue because I believe I have the right to complain about this as I paid for a service which is not being delivered in a timely manner. I’m not sure how you sort this out in the company but I would like some resolution on this. "Our driver was brilliant, however the company themselves were less than satisfactory. Our driver was an hour late picking us up, as he was caught up in the bank holiday traffic. However, he called us beforehand and was very apologetic and couldn't do enough to help us load-in upon arrival. We still arrived at our destination on time. The return journey is where things began to go awry. Due to an event running late we asked our driver directly if he would mind coming a little later to pick us up, which was no problem. We agreed a new time, and a small amount of compensation for his patience. 45 minutes after he was due to arrive, Phoenix Cars finally called me and were refusing to let him come to pick us up unless we paid £100. They also refused to send another driver. 3am, and stuck in south London, 85 miles from home, even though we had prepaid £200+ for the trip. Thankfully, after calling the driver personally, he agreed to come and pick us up regardless, and we eventually got home. Not a peep further from Phoenix Cars after all this. And they were certainly rude and aggressive on the phone when I did managed to speak with them. Wonderful, helpful, polite driver, and a very safe and comfortable trip. But as a company, terrible."

I was also surprised at the route taken by the driver and had he asked if I would pay for the Toll Road I would have said yes to save us well over an hour. I wouldn’t be using this company again. Got an estate toyota that was barely moving instead of the E-calss mercedes that was ordered and paid. All the possible error lights that a car can have was on. Bearings were making loud sounds. The car was not clean. The driver felt like he was driving for the first time. Trip 2. Driver on time. Great car. Driver was mainly talking on the phone. did not believe me when i said that i did not receive the mercedes ordered on the first trip. Remember to take a photo of the car if in doubt. "

"The sole redeeming element of this journey was the fact that the driver arrived on time to collect us. The vehicle I booked is not what we received, but who doesn't want to swap an E-Class for a custom transit mini bus anyway? Once we were moving however the journey was simply the worst I have experienced. Alarm bells were initially set off when driving out of my parents village along a narrow road the driver decided to force two other cards to drive around him to turn right behind us rather than just wait a few metres further back and allow them to pass. Once the ensuing battle of wills had been won, somewhat unceremoniously, by our driver who mounted the curb, we set on our way towards the M20 and Heathrow. While I appreciate roundabouts can be confusing places, we were joining at the end of the M20 motorway, so there was literally only one way to go to get onto the motorway and towards the airport. Sadly our driver chose the other way and we were promptly heading back the way we came. This small oversight remedied we then embarked along the motorway. There are a number of roadworks on the motorway, making the lanes narrower which requires additional concentration, but nothing that can't be handled by a professional driver. Sadly we didn't have one of those and on more than one occasion we drifted dangerously close to the lorries using the lane alongside us. Of course this is an understandable element of any journey during which the driver appears to be drifting off to sleep. The really scary moment of the journey though was the borderline comedic journey along the M25. Once the inevitable roadworks had ended the driver decided that the middle lane was the appropriate place to travel at 40mph for about 5-10 miles. With cars overtaking, overtaking, swerving to avoid us and beeping their horns as they passed the driver decided to inform us that the speed limit was 40mph here and literally every other driver on the road was mistaken. After I pointed out that it clearly wasn't that speed he was silent for about 2 minutes and then sped up to over 80mph and promptly chased down the vehicles that had been so angry with us not 5 minutes earlier. Upon arrival at the airport my girlfriend and I disembarked gingerly, ready for a relatively easy flight thinking only that it couldn't get any worse. "
